We are a renowned and established family run business in Sunderland and have been for over 75 years now. Our origins lie in the furniture and flooring trade but for over 15 years now we have solely focussed on domestic flooring. We have, in recent years, opened a substantial curtain and blind department within our store with just about all types of window coverings available in curtain and blind formats.

About us
Philip Thursby Ltd was founded as Thursby Furniture Ltd by Philip and Eric's father, Harry, in 1947. In 2007 Philip opened Philip Thursby’s, moving away from furniture to specialise in carpets and other aspects of flooring.
Philip's youngest son, Harry, has been at the helm of the business since 2019 following his fathers retirement. After learning the trade from his father and working alongside him for six years, Harry has successfully grown the business without moving away from its core family values which have been at the root of the Thursby family's success. A curtain and blind department was added in 2016 and the business is also proud to be recognised as Sunderland's official number one Karndean supplier. The business has been located at the current Sunderland premises on Holmeside for over 25 years.
Being part of the Associated Carpet Group, which has over 300 carpet dealers nationwide, we can source high quality flooring and carpets for a good honest price.
